It is fall fashion week in NYC and behind all the glitz, celebrities and drama, there was a lot of work to be done on my end. That said, sometimes I am called upon by other designers (much bigger then myself - literally) to fulfill last minute designs. Since my clothing collection is made locally, you can imagine all the calls I received for fashion week regarding last minute requests. Now that the week is just about over, I can finally settle in an share my thoughts about an incident that occurred a few days ago.I was invited to be a guest blogger on a fashion related web site, much like this one. Most of these companies manufacturer their own garments once the concepts, details, and samples are designed. The department store buyer will look at these manufactured samples and decide if they want to carry them in their stores. As we speak, buyers are working with designers and manufacturer samples for Spring/Summer 2010.With that being said, this years Spring/Summer 09 trends, that are already available to consumers in retail stores, do not reflect the current credit crunch that has affected our economy. When the economy is bad, fashion trends tend to reveal the ramifications. Colors start to inherit neutral and basic tones like: brown, grey, cream and navy. This is because fashion colors (the trendy colors of the moment) are more expensive to manufacturer. In a bad economy, fabrics become less feminine and luxurious. Manufacturers use basic blends of cotton, wool and silk while avoiding intricate details like embellishments, sequins, leather, glitter and flaps. This helps to lower the overall price that a consumer will pay for such a garment. Hemlines tend to shrink in a bad economy. The mini skirt was first developed and designed by Mary Quant in the 1960's while in the midst of an economic recession. Less fabric is cheaper and lets face it, a mini skirt leaves little to the imagination!This will be the first time in history when being fashionable is out of fashion! The collections that walked down the runway in September's Spring Fashion week were not designed for the frugal female or an economy on the verge of a recession. They were designed and created for the luxurious lady who loves to splurge on novelty items. When Spring 09 hits the stores many months after fashion week, people will simply pass up the designer brands and head to discount stores to buy what they can afford.By now, my reply to your requirement is a bit extensive. I have to stop myself as I could go on for hours! I have decided to list my favorite trends in a more effective way that seems reasonable due to the economy and my above acclamations. The clothing industry began to envision two sides of the clothing industry, clothes off the rack for everyday use, and the high fashion clothing from the runway. Comingling of the two styles seemed to fade away, with most designers beginning to select designing for one or the other. Times are very different today, as many couture fashion clothing items find their way into department stores all over the world. If you desire a career in design, many of the original ideals still remain the same; even though the actual role of the designer has changed tremendously. There are many schools of design that will introduce potential career candidates to different avenues of the fashion trade. During the training process, the career minded students will begin to differentiate the different lines of clothing and begin to choose their career path. In most cases, designers will need to pay their dues to the industry before they achieve their career goals in the style of Wang or Karan. From my own creative experience in designing dress models, I dare to give some advice in choosing dressing style, especially for women who find it hard to dig out the dress that suits them well. What is suitable for young, might not always suit the senior. Senior women, no matter how thin or full always have to choose the robes carefully. The dress that falls down easily and does not snug will always be a better choice. The tunic that falls lightly – longer for high, shorter for short, will always provide you with opportunity to look elegant. Grey, black, red colours. You should be more careful with white. Loose pants will match better with the tunic than the tight ones, but you also have to pay attention to the leg length, body proportions. I wouldn’t recommend tight pants for a full woman. Optimal pants should be a bit slinky to the bottom and waist, then fall down lightly and narrow round the ends of shins. Such pants will give you nice and comfy form and could be easily matched to longer tunic or jacket. Not all women can wear mini skirts. Mini skirts and slinky clothes will always fit the woman of perfect proportions, of course, and they should not have any problem finding the proper outfit, if they only understand what’s elegant, fashionable and not too challenging. Natural fibre clothing is becoming one of the main factors in the elegant fashion. Normally, there s no prestige in the clothes of synthetic fibre anymore; natural fibre – linen, wool, silk, viscose, cotton, hemp and their combination are already becoming the foundation in choosing the clothing.

Caring For Fashion Jewelry:

While fashion jewelry is also commonly referred to as junk jewelry and costume jewelry, both terms that make the jewelry sound worthless, taking good care of it is an absolute must. One of the most important things you should remember about fashion jewelry is that unlike fine jewelry that is made of precious metal and stone, it will tarnish and fade and can look quite unsightly if not cared for well. Fine jewelry can be restored to its original state by polishing and buffing. You will have no such luck with your fashion jewelry. Soap leaves residue on the jewelry thus making it look very dull and unattractive. Toothpaste on the other hand has come out famed. It has proven to be cost and cleaning effective. However, it is important to make sure that the toothpaste does not contain any abrasive substances in it. Using soft buff cloths Pieces of buff cloth are very effective in cleaning jewelry that is dirty and dusty. These pieces can be bought at a local jewelry store. Fashion jewelry, especially bracelets, necklaces and chains have a tendency to lose their shine with repeated wear. Immerse your jewelry in some cleanser and then wipe it clean with a piece of soft dry buff cloth and watch the shine return. Maintaining order and storing your fashion jewelry While cleaning your jewelry is an important chore how you choose to store it is equally important. Never ever make the mistake of putting all your fashion jewelry into one bag or one compartment of a jewelry box. This could be fatal. It is important to remember that while jewelry is stored it tends to rub against one another, thus causing scratches, removing plating etc. Fashion jewelry must be categorized and stored so that pieces do not get entangled and entwined and damage each other. Always keep the newer jewelry separated from the older ones. Equally important is making sure that the box used to store your fashion jewelry is moisture and dust free. Make sure that no dust and moisture can get into the jewelry box. Equally important is to make sure that all the pieces of jewelry are absolutely dry before they are put in. Moisture can tarnish the metal. If you use your fashion jewelry on a daily basis it would be advisable to clean it once a week and if you use is occasionally then clean it right after you use it.
